Workshops
Workshops are held monthly on the fourth Friday, January through October, in the Ebenezer Methodist Church (for June, July and August 2026). Check the monthly newsletter calendar for dates. Doors open at 9:30, instruction starts at 10:00 unless otherwise noted. Take your lunch and any needed supplies. Details are available here at least a week before the workshop.
A paid guest or member guides the group through a specific project or a UFO session when everyone works on a group project or her own unfinished projects. Members share their expertise and assist others as needed. Quilters of all experience levels are welcome at meetings and workshops!
Non-members welcome -- please notify us through the contact link so we know you are coming.

Deb Heatherly – Zoom workshop
Deb Heatherly is the founder and creative director for Deb’s Cats and Quilts Designs. Deb is a former freelance writer for QUILT Magazine, and has designed numerous tools for Creative Grids® including The Ultimate Flying Geese Tool, The Cat’s Cradle XL, and the Kitty Cornered Tool. Her patterns, her books, and her fabric line for Timeless Treasures are well known within the quilt community. Deb’s online group called “Grid Girls” now has more than 10,000 members.
The Starry Nights pattern is friendly for beginner and intermediate level quilters, and does not require specialized grid tools – just basic rulers and grids. More experienced quilters will enjoy exploring the opportunities for personal interpretation. This will be a Zoom Workshop as Deb no longer travels for workshops due to health issues.
The fee for this workshop is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. A $15 nonrefundable deposit will be required to sign-up for this workshop; the deposit will apply to the workshop fee. A printed copy of the quilt pattern is included in the workshop fee, and will be provided to each participant at the workshop. Payment can be made by cash or check to the Workshops Chairperson. Checks should be made out to Mountain Laurel Quilters Guild. Contact Pat Mahoney by e-mail at patriciafmahoney@gmail.com or text message to 770-294-2043.
