The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Our speaker this month is Donna Orford. She grew up in Marietta, GA, attended GA Southern College and graduated with a BS in Recreation in 1975. She spent a long career working in Recreation, but had many other careers along the way. Donna moved to Flowery Branch, GA, when she married her husband, Jerry Cheek. They fell in love with the Franklin area after 20 years of traveling there for bicycling trips. They decided that Franklin was where they wanted to retire so they bought a house in 2017, retired and moved to their forever home. Like many of us, she grew up sewing clothes. She felt she was never very good at that but that was the only way she and her sisters could afford to have the latest fashions in their high school years. Franklin is where she found her love of quilting so for the last 7 years she has been learning and perfecting her skills. She became a certified Studio 180 Designs instructor, (Tucker), in 2023 and has been teaching quilting for 4 years.

Demonstration of Tucker Trimmer, not just for squaring up blocks Tucker Trimmer Tool Basics Designed as a trim down ruler for squares that are constructed from triangles, the Tucker Trimmer™ tool helps quilters produce high quality pieces of work. By starting with squares that are slightly larger than necessary, quilters can quickly sew and press units and then trim them down to an exact measurement. In addition to the instructions included here, you can also watch video demonstrations for using your Tucker Trimmer™ tool at: http://www.youtube.com/user/DebTuckerStudio180. The Tucker Trimmer I, II, and III are not just for trimming your finished blocks. It can do so much more. For example, you can make Log Cabin blocks, Curved Log Cabin blocks, Eight at once Half Square Triangles, Shaded Nine Patch, Shaded Four Patch, Cyclone, and more.
