The next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at the new VFW facility, 200 E Louise Street across from Ingles in Clarkesville.
Our November program, “Quilting with Friends”, will be led by our own Bev Mannes. Bev Mannes has been sewing for herself and her family since she was a little girl. Her first two quilts were made in the early 1960s when they were at Purdue. The family made many moves and along the way she made banners for the churches they attended.
She and Cal moved to Clayton, Georgia in 1997 and the quilting bug bit hard. Great fabric stores and the Log Cabin Needlers started her on the new adventure. A road trip with those friends took her to a quilt show in Seneca, SC, where she saw a poster of Caryl Bryer Fallert’s 1990 AQS best of show quilt “Corona II, the Solar Eclipse”. Wow! She was blown away by the non-traditional art quilt and drove to Paducah for the 2001 show where she took a week-long class from Caryl and two one day hand-dyeing classes from Jan Myers Newberry. The art quilt bug had changed the course of her quilting.
She retired from the computer industry in 2003, freeing her to join Mountain Laurel Quilters’ Guild, Bee Sharps and Bee Artful. Her cadre of quilting friends just keepsexpanding, challenging her, enriching her, sharing their love and support. This is her story of those friendships. She will be name-dropping as she shows quilts and other textile art with links to quilting friends. You have enriched her life immeasurably as you have blessed the lives of all the guild members.
If you have a sewing machine to be cleaned or repaired, please contact Pam Prosser at (678) 360-7921 at least a week before the meeting (November 10). We need at least 3 machines to be repaired or cleaned. Michael will also sharpen knives.
We will schedule basting before our November 17, 2026 guild meeting. Please let Pat Mahoney know by email at patriciafmahoney@gmail.com or text message to 770-294-2043 by November 10th if you need basting.
Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 12:30. Come at 11:30 to socialize and bring your lunch.

12:30 Show and Tell of donation and members' quilts and meeting.
Monthly programs may feature a speaker, trunk show, or twice-yearly festive luncheons.
Meetings usually include door prizes.
